Freedom and Responsibility

Freedom though sounds very easy and liberating but freedom along with it brings responsibility, responsibility for actions and deed. Everyone of us wants to be free, without freedom we feel suffocated, a hardened criminal or someone who abuses that freedom is punished by curbing his freedom totally and kept in locked places. Jails and lockers are an example of that.

In our day to day life, to be free is to be totally responsible for everything we do. It appears that is why many of us choose to spread that responsibility over beliefs, ideas and systems; we choose to follow a certain order, either maintained and formulated by us or by someone else. It gives us a sense of belonging, a dodging of that self responsibility because a herd is involved in it, and what the herd does may be incorrect but at least you have numbers to support you i.e. support of partners in crime, you can always divide the blame so that no one in particular is responsible.

It seems to me that the moment you want to be free, you are free but its more convenient to be bound and feel secure. Freedom is not easy to handle, if you really don't know what to do or make of it, it can drive you nuts !
